From the time you step into my classroom on, you are not only my students, you are my friends (except I assign you readings, some friend, huh?). I care about each of you--I care about your well being. I care about how your morning went. I care about your learning and your growth in both my classroom and in your individual lives. Even if we barely know each other, I care about you. I promise to show this to you through my lessons, through books we read, and hopefully, through one-on-one conversations. I promise to work hard to give you a classroom where you feel safe to express yourselves. I promise to listen to your thoughts, whether I'm listening to you speak or reading your writing. I promise to create an environment that allows you to walk into my classroom and not worry about anything except for learning, growing, and discovering. So, all I ask of you is to come to class ready to learn, grow, and discover.
